School Programs

Performing Space Required: A large classroom or meeting room, an auditorium, a gymnasium, or a cafeteria setting are acceptable. Our set is a book that opens up to approximately 16' wide, and 8’ deep. The performers need space for movement on both sides, in front, and behind the set. Students may sit on the floor if necessary.  An elevated stage may make viewing easier but is not required.  Please note that school stages are often too small and that consequently we need to perform on the floor.

If a tuned piano is available, it will be used.  The SOX troupe tours with an electronic keyboard in case there is not.  The keyboard will require an electrical outlet.

No lighting is required

If the performance is outdoors, microphones will be used. This will allow the performers free use of their hands. Please contact the Shreveport Opera for further details.

All sets, costumes, and props are provided by SOX. Sometimes a particular dress (such as solid black) is requested for children for a residency program, but this is not obligatory.

Broadway or Classical Programs

These programs can be performed in any setting. It requires minimal space for the performers.

A quality piano is preferred. However, the SOX keyboard can be used instead.  An outlet is required.

In most venues, microphones are not required. However, If the space is quite large, or if it is an outdoor event, please contact Shreveport Opera to discuss situation details.

For a Broadway Review, the use of stage lights is recommended.  Please contact Shreveport Opera to discuss the different options.
